The zine started with a game of Exquisite Corpse played between David and Coco over a glass of wine many moons ago. You may be familiar with the game from the surrealists, know it as Consequences or have played it in the back of the classroom; each person writing a sentence in turn and obscuring it until at the end of the game you read a random, whimsical and disjointed story. For the first edition Coco and David swapped sentences – Coco illustrating David’s and vice versa. The works represent the artist’s interpretation of the words, their creative imaginings, expression and perspective; inviting viewers into their alternate realities.
The zine is released annually with an exhibition of the original works and the limited edition run of zines. The first edition was a run of 50 with future editions set to double (or even triple!). The zine does reside in Darwin with Coco and David, but it also enjoys traveling to other cities and towns in Australia for exhibitions, zine fairs or zine shelves in zine emporiums. Sightseeing has only expanded it’s vision.
